CDT Chair update

What an incredible few weeks it has been for our Doctors in Training community. We recently celebrated the AMA Queensland Dinner for the Profession at Blackbird, for a night hosted by Dr Chadden Hunter. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, unwind and celebrate the immense talent within Queensland medicine.

A massive, well-deserved congratulations goes out to our very own CDT Co-Chair, Dr Emma Hodge, who was awarded the prestigious Doctor in Training Medal! Emma’s tireless dedication to advocating for junior doctors and shaping a supportive medical workforce across our state is inspiring and it was fantastic to see her impact formally recognised. We also extend our warmest congratulations to all the evening's award winners, including Dr Christopher Pyke (Gold Medal), Professor James Nicklin and Dr Lydia Pitcher (Excellence in Health Care Medal), Dr Dan Halliday (Rural Health Medal), and Melissa Impiazzi (Distinguished Supporter Member Award).

Looking ahead, the countdown is officially on for our flagship event of the year: the Junior Doctor Conference (JDC) in Mackay, running from Saturday 25 July to Sunday 26 July. Your CDT team has been working hard behind the scenes to curate a dynamic program packed with cutting-edge topics. Alongside our practical trauma and mass casualty simulation workshops and the ever-popular specialty speed dating, we are thrilled to feature some truly unique sessions, like space medicine. We will wrap up Saturday with a "Coastal Chic" evening social at Red Dog Brewery, and spend Sunday morning at the Resource Centre of Excellence for an incredible hands-on deep dive into underground emergency medicine.

If you haven’t secured your spot yet, this is your final call - registrations close at 9am on Friday 17 July.

Through the generous support of our Platinum sponsors, Mackay Regional Council and Northern Queensland PHN, there are still a limited number of the 50 sponsored JDC conference packages available. Valued at $600, these packages cover your full registration, catering, social functions and include a $150 travel reimbursement. Don't let roster stress hold you back, either - if you register and later find out you are rostered to work that weekend, AMA Queensland will provide a full refund if you let them know at least seven days out.

Head over to the Junior Doctor Conference events page to grab your ticket and get ready for an unforgettable weekend of learning, networking and coastal refreshing.

See you all in Mackay!
