Call for permanent PTSS advisory group

AMA Queensland has been advocating for a lift to the Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme (PTSS) ahead of the Queensland Budget. Just last week we signed a joint letter with 23 health organisations calling for a PTSS stakeholder reference group to guide reforms. The scheme is a lifeline for regional and rural patients unable to get treatment in their local public hospital but with rising fuel prices, it has fallen far behind true travel costs. We call on the government to provide an urgent injection to the PTSS in the coming budget.
